Stainless Steel Dog Tags

I have always loved dogs but I never had a real one. Somebody gave one to me as a gift about five years ago. I remember clearly that I was out shopping at the mall one day, when I passed by a pet shop and got smitten by some stainless steel dog tags.

So I went in and had one engraved for me. The store owner asked about what name he will be inscribing in the dog tag, and I quipped quickly, “Elizabeth”. He then went on engraving that into the tag with some nice cursive writing. At the counter, he asked what name I should be placed in the receipt and I said, “Elizabeth, please.” And he said, “It seems like you love your dog so much. You’re naming the receipt after her.” I amusingly quipped, “My name is Elizabeth.” He chuckled so loudly that it startled everyone at the store. He must have thought that I named my dog after me.

But actually, I wanted to keep the dog tag as a keychain. Amazingly, somebody gave me a female pup after 2 days, without any apparent reason. I named her Lazzie, not Lizzie though. I don’t want to get into trouble with the receipts again.
